Steve Buckley is just back from attending the succesful Community Radio Stakeholders Conference in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria.
The conference was part of a two year project which CM Solutions is running to support the development of community radio in Nigeria in partnership with the Institute for Media and Society, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
The conference was attended by around ninety participants including representatives of departments and agencies of government; traditional rulers and other community leaders; academics; Nigeria Union of Journalists; campus radio operators; community development associations; advocates of community radio and development communication; development partners; World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC) and other stakeholders.
Themes included 'Strengthening advocacy' and 'Re-engineering Community Capacity-Building'.
